We are not called to build a church, we are called to BE the church. We are called by God to surrender our lives to a distinct purpose that is bigger than ourselves. We have been commissioned by our king to "Go…make disciples of all nations." (Matthew 28:19)
At Sixth Street, we want to develop disciples who "Live Missionally". This means we want Christ-followers to see themselves as ambassadors of the kingdom of God who are on a mission at all times, whether across the street or around the world.
Locally, our members have volunteered at community block parties and fall festivals and serve organizations like Meals on Wheels and the Tallapoosa Christian Crisis Center. We also have short-term mission trips in the United States.
Globally, members from Sixth Street are regularly serving in the countries of Guinea, Swaziland, Uganda, Kenya, Honduras, and Dominican Republic. We are currently praying for and attempting to send teams to an unreached people group, the Kakkabe of Guinea.
Because of our affiliation with the Southern Baptist Convention, we cooperate with thousands of other SBC churches through the Cooperative Program to plant churches and send missionaries through the North America Mission Board and the International Mission Board.
